Production Meeting Notes Sep 25

We reviewed the schedule for FABLE FACTORY:
  • the opening of FABLE FACTORY has been pushed back to Oct 6 2pm: there will be an invited dress on October 5th at 10:30 am that may include a small school group: if more bookings come in it will become the first show.
  • Earl needs a tech to run sound and lights for FF, starting on Tuesday October 2nd.
  • His additional set peices will be installed on the 26th and 27th.
We also reviewed the schedule for URINETOWN:
  • cast might be onstage Sunday evening to begin spacing
  • cast will absolutely be onstage starting Tuesday
  • Kris C. will start on Tuesday, as will Michelle L as Wardrobe Mistress
  • The band will be in on Thursday night (oct 3) to work with Sound

SET:
the bulk of the set is in place, but there are two issues of concern:
  • working out the internal power for the rotating portion of the wagon; this was not finalized in the shop, and it will take some more time to work out how the feed to the internal motor stays out of the way of the rest of the works.
  • there are some logistical problems with using the "amenities" wall as the "ground" in the death scene.
David and I walked the set after the meeting and Dave had the following concerns:
  • all the framing along the floor under the platforming creates a trip hazard. We discussed either removing some of the steel along the floor or decking it over to create an even floor surface under the platforms
  • the rolling ladder needs swivel casters on the front end
  • the lower platform where the ladder plays looks odd with one little step up, and Dave is concerned with actor perceptions of safety: asked to add a deck to that part of the platform up to create a landing instead of a little step.
  • David really wants access further downstage when the wagon is the Amenity. He really wants to look at cutting a small entrance into the brick returns on either side.
  • Include a step ladder in the Amenity so actors' head can pop up over the wall
PROPS and miscellaneous stuff
  • Need a BULLHORN (in stock) (already put in)
  • two rustic benches that match, dance-able (stock)
  • Small FOGGER or aerosol fogger for ghost scene (actor carries the unit out in view, and sprays the ghostly fog around the ghosts to make them ghostly)
  • Costume shop is building the mesh money bags
  • Still need the chair to tie the girl to (she gets carried around) Carl offered to check the thrift shops in Hallandale, Chris continues to search Miami-Dade.
COSTUMES
Moving along. Costume World is ready to ship the rest of the rental package, pending Barbara's approval on final charges.

Weekly Update

The production meeting was moved from this Thursday to Tuesday, September 25. Earl will just be going on lunch from FFF rehearsals, and not only will we have a better idea of where we are, but we'll have time to make plans for the weekend.

The set has come over to the theatre, and installation is moving at a very good pace.

Chris is working on props; Ellis is handling the bunny slipper puppets and the billy-clubs.

Electrical work is moving right along; they should be finished with the exterior poster cases this afternoon. Next week they will do the main lobby poster cases, and the miscellaneous work on the 2nd and third floor.

Renovation work

The work has begun on phase III-c renovations.

Kelly Benson Electrical will be replacing the lights in the poster cases, repairing lights in the 2nd floor lobby, replacing the lights in the third floor bathrooms, and repairing a couple of emergency lights.

We have ordered material to restore the Mainstage aisle lights; replacement guts and new lenses. These will be installed by Tony's crew.

Chris will be picking up replacement fixtures for the Balcony Theater halogen work lights; Tony's crew will install these, as well.

The ballasts in the broken costume shop will be replaced during this work phase.

Work on the terrazzo in the foyer and restrooms will start on Monday. This is mostly buffing and polishing, but will take three days.

The carpet on the third floor will be cleaned this week; the main lobby and Mainstage will be cleaned the Monday of opening week.

URINETOWN meet and greet

There will be a meet and greet with the cast and design team of URINETOWN, on September 18, at 2pm in the Black Box Theater. Coffee and bagels will be served.

2007/09/14

Notes from Production Meeting; Sep 13

We will be shooting a commercial for URINETOWN in the Balcony Theater on September 14th at 12:30, featuring 'Little Sally.' We will need to create a new sign on the TOMFOOLERY set for the restrooms, one that reads "Public Amenity"

The promo photo shoot is still on for Wednesday. Chris called Costume World and confirmed with Jadene that Lockstock's costume will be shipped and on site Monday.

VISA PARA closes Sunday. Tony will start striking their lighting sunday evening, and Goal Entertainment will load out the set on Monday, and will probably have a final load to move on Tuesday. We will start doing rigging on Tuesday, and the set comes over on Wednesday.

We discussed some props; Carl has a prop list and will distribute it for Review. Some pieces may be covered with costumes, or at least should be coordinated with costumes.

PROPS TO BE ACQUIRED FOR SURE:
  • 7 flashlights, either 4-cell models, or somthing that LOOKS like a 4-cell cop flashlight.
  • 7 billy clubs
HEADSETS:
We have ordered more headsets for the Eartec walkie-talkies. LANE is clearing out the cubbies we built for them, and we will start using the cubbies to store the headsets. ALL the units will be returned to the booth and stored in their cubby at the end of every day.

REhearsals for Urinetown start Tuesday. There will be a meet and greet at 2pm.

THUMBS Production Facts

LOGOVenue: Mainstage Theater

A new comedy-thriller by Rupert Holmes makes its way to Actors' Playhouse. Set in an isolated cabin in Vermont, this is the story of two equally clever women from two very different walks of life who will need all their wit and will to survive a cat-and-mouse game with a devious killer, the likes of whom has not been seen before. Lots of big death and/or torture machines.
