David announced that he will be working on a play reading, to be performed for the Steins and the executives of G4 entertainment on September 10. He will be in the Balcony all day on that, and will have several rehearsals prior to that in the Black Box.
For the play reading, he will need stools and music stands for 7 people, playback, and probably some form of reinforcement (mics) General lighting is already in the board.
We also discussed the microphone situation in regards to the number of lav mics available. Currently, Lane reports we don't have enough available to put a lav on everyone in both Urinetown and Fable Factory. The old Sonys are beyond repair, but repairing some of the Sennheisers will get us close. I have Lane looking into the possibility of renting some units, and he will find prices for a small system for the TYA program. Dave will look into the grants to see if there's some funding available.
VISA PARA has canceled their 5pm Saturday performances: the may add a Friday performance on the last two weeks, or add an earlier Sunday matinée.
The new washer and dryer have been installed in the 3rd floor laundry. Thanks to Jerry Brown for getting them donated so quickly.
There are some projects that MUST be completed by October 1st to qualify for this year's Capital Development Grant:
- Electrical work to improve lighting for patrons.
- New drapes (main traveler and masking legs) for the Balcony Theater
David and I are still finalizing the scope of the electrical work; with our loaded schedule, the original project may not be able to be completed in the time frame available. We're looking into different units for the ceiling, and a few other ways to improve lighting without taking down the ceiling in the building.
The online calendar has been updated to reflect all the changes discussed here.
HAve a great weekend!
